Mac OS X 10.8 Source

Achtung Umsatz Besitzer!

CocoaBox rejected

Apple has rejected CocoaBox because if its iCloud integration. I’ve to figure out how to deal with it and what changes I can and have to make. I’ll keep you in the loop…

How to throw out the baby with the bath water

It is about the user experience – isn’t it Apple? That’s why you’re the biggest (and best) company on earth. So what the heck where you thinking as you implemented sandboxing the way you did?

Currently sandboxed Apps can’t do (and these are just random examples):

· be used with Dock icon hidden (by user)
· display custom icon (changed by user)
· communicate with other Apps
· mount volumes
· create mail attachments
· open files/attachments without open/save dialog
· and even those save panels do not work properly!
· proper work with Dropbox (the way we are used to)
· send Apple events (really, Apple?)
· fake key commands

And I could extend this list for days.

Many of those cute little Apps and tools that simplify our life will be thrown out of the App Store in the future. Yes. They all have been already approved and are currently sold by Apple. And yes, with Gatekeeper there is a ‘possibility’ to offer them outside of the App Store.

But – c’mon!
No one purchases Apps outside the App Store anymore.

Fix this, Apple. Now…

The cat is out of the bag

And its name is Mountain Lion. Who would have guessed that :–)

I am exited. And this also means, that there is a lot of work coming towards me. Because as of today I have to start preparing all my Apps for 10.8. This also means, that the support for Snow Leopard will be discontinued in the near future.

I am already preparing a test MacBook Air for the hopefully today downloadable Developer Preview.

Did I mentioned, that I am exited?

Even if I fear the new direction in design.
Even more ‘ugly’ GUIs – like on iOS. Black windows, brown windows, yellow toolbars, green buttons and so on.

Really, Apple?

But hey – in the end its up to every developer what he/she is doing with it :–)

Steve Jobs as Apple’s CEO: a retrospective in products

What a bomb!

I didn’t see that one coming! Hopefully it has nothing to do with his health – but instead a long planned step waiting for the right moment to come…
